Ultherapy Celebration, FL
Ultherapy is a safe, non-surgical procedure that lifts the skin and decreases wrinkles. Sagging skin and wrinkles can result from various factors, the most common being age and level of sun exposure. Unfortunately, both of these factors are unavoidable.
Regardless of why you may be experiencing these frustrating symptoms, our team at the Florida Cosmetic Center can help find a solution. We offer ultherapy services to residents in and around Celebration, Florida. To schedule a consultation or learn more about our services, call us at (321) 415-9826.
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that combines heat and ultrasound energy to tighten the skin and lift the muscles, most commonly in the neck and face. Ultherapy is an FDA-approved procedure and can help with all skin types, including those who have had previous cosmetic procedures such as laser resurfacing or chemical peels. It is also suitable for patients with good skin elasticity but may not have enough volume or density due to aging.
Advantages of Ultherapy
There are numerous benefits to Ultherapy in comparison to its alternatives. The FDA-approved procedure is an alternative to surgery, offering less downtime. Less downtime means patients will not be stuck in bed afterward for weeks like most other intricate cosmetic procedures. In addition to being non-surgical, safe, and effective, this procedure works across all skin types. Patients with darker skin tones, such as African American or Hispanic women, are often excluded from other cosmetic procedures because they risk hyperpigmentation (dark spots) after treatment.
Ultherapy is best for patients looking to reduce signs of aging, such as wrinkles and loose skin, not limited to the facial and neck area. The procedure can also help with other areas on the patient's body.
Preparing for the procedure
While we will perform Ultherapy at our cosmetic center, a few things must happen before the procedure. Unfortunately, every patient does not qualify for Ultherapy. Therefore we must first determine if the patient is an ideal candidate during their initial consultation. To determine whether or not a patient is an ideal candidate, they will need to undergo an in-depth physical examination of the intended treatment site by one of our skincare professionals. Additionally, we will review the patient's medical history and medications. Patients need to keep track of all the medications they have used, both over-the-counter (OTC) and prescriptions.
Generally, patients should avoid blood thinning medication such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen for at least seven days before treatment. If the patient's health plan includes a blood thinning medication and wishes to pursue Ultherapy, they will need clearance from their primary care physician before stopping that specific medication.
We will also advise patients approved for this procedure to avoid alcohol and smoke consumption 24 hours before Ultherapy.
Understanding the treatment process
After the initial consultation, we will schedule an appointment for the actual procedure. The Ultherapy treatment process can take up to 30 minutes and will be performed in our office. We will use an ultrasound probe to heat the collagen under the patient's skin during the procedure. The heat causes the collagen to contract and tighten, which lifts sagging skin on the face, neck, and chest. We offer numerous anesthetics that may be applied to numb any discomfort the patient may feel during this process.
After the process is complete, it is normal for patients to experience swelling and discoloration around the recently treated areas, which usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours.
Aftercare
As with most cosmetic procedures, follow-up care is essential. We encourage patients to avoid makeup and clean their treatment sites with mild soap and water for up to 24 hours after the procedure. If makeup is necessary, use a non-comedogenic brand that will not clog the pores.
Patients should also avoid extended periods of sun exposure, including tanning beds, for at least two weeks. While we understand that the sun is unavoidable, especially in Florida, patients should be sure to wear sunscreen if they plan to be outside for extended periods.
Usually, this procedure has little to no downtime, and normal activities such as driving, working, and patients can resume exercising the same day. Each patient is unique; therefore, the full details of an aftercare plan will vary. This will also include how many (if any) follow-up appointments they should attend and any after-procedure medications that may need to be administered.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How long will results last?
A. This will depend entirely on your body. Ultherapy works by stimulating the body's collagen. Therefore, as long as your body maintains its collagen, the longer results of the treatment will last on the outside. Typically, results can last between 3 and 12 months.
Q. Is Ultherapy painful?
A. During the process, you may feel slight discomfort similar to a pinch. However, we will review our numerous numbing options during your consultation and after your approval, from anesthesia to a topical anesthetic. After the procedure, you may notice the area is slightly swollen, which is normal.
Q. I recently had another cosmetic procedure. Can I still receive Ultherapy?
A. It depends. We understand that every case is different, so we require an initial consultation days before the procedure. During the initial consultation, we will review your medical history. From there, we will advise on whether or not you are a good candidate. However, some procedures such as chemical peels and laser resurfacing pose no threat to the Ultherapy process.
Q. Are there any side effects associated with Ultherapy?
A. Yes. Like with any other cosmetic procedure, there are side effects such as skin discoloration and swelling at the treatment site. However, unlike Ultherapy's alternatives, swelling and bruising symptoms usually go away within 48 hours.
Q. Will I need someone to drive me home after the procedure?
A. No. Unless you have an additional medical case that requires a driver or added support, you can resume all activities on the same day. If you have an adverse reaction, we will act accordingly. We will also go over the process during the initial consultation before the procedure.
